Contest & Competition Results

This page contains our recent competition results. If anyone has copies of any results sheets for these or any other competitions, please let us have a copy so we can put it on this page!

Following our return to competition in 2006, we were promoted and are now a Contest Class band competing in the TYMBA leagues.

South East of England Contest - Hornchurch - 2008

Here is the score sheet from the Hornchurch Contest. We finished third, behind Burgess Hill who won, and Kings Norton who were runners up.

Burgess Hill were in the National Class last year, so some people might say it was a little unfair that they came down two classes for this year. If that had not happened, we still would not have won, but we would have retained the Percussion trophy that we won last year, and would have also won the best Display. But fair play to Burgess Hill who were fantastic!

We should take the positives though. Compare the scores from 2007, and you'll see we improved our scores for Wind (+9 points), Display (a massive +51), and Turnout (+11). It just goes to show that we are getting there!

Here is the score sheet for the Hornchurch Contest, apart from winning the Best Percussion trophy, we are a little disappointed with the scores. However, we have got a lot of good comments from the Judges and we intend to improve before next year.

TYMBA National Finals - Cannock - November 2006

Because of our previous results at Hornchurch and at Aldershot, we qualified for the TYMBA National Finals, held at Cannock in Staffordshire. This is where all the qualifying bands come together and compete for the title of National Champions for each class.

We improved our routine and played really well, and came away with Best Percussion Section and were the Novice Class Runners Up, to our rivals Kings Norton Royal British Legion Youth Marching Band. We gave them a good run for their money though, and in most categories were only a few points behind.

Now also on here is a video of our performance, hosted on YouTube.

At Aldershot, the Rushmoor Contest took place during the Army Show 2006. We won the General Musical Effect category (although there wasn't a trophy), and were 2nd overall.

Originally, four bands were placed joint second, but now the placings have been split by TYMBA, by the General Musical Effect (GME) scores.
